Poor baby dragon is lost, and puts the scare in the royal household. I was never big into Medieval lore -- the Crusades weren't an especially good time for my people -- so I got a kick out seeing that silly knight quaking in his corslet. Otherwise, this is a simple tale about wanting someone to love you. I admit I get a lump in my throat whenever my son shouts, "It's his Mommy!"
Gardiner's cheery pastels and quirky details kept me scanning the pages for more visual treats. There's a princess with a pile of mattresses and enviable shoe collection, for example, and the polka-dotted pink dragon himself.

I liked it a bit less, because I can take only so much syrup.
