My husband persuaded me to join LinkedIn, basically a networking website for which I have no use whatsoever. Does it help me arrange playdates? Will it locate a stroller-friendly cafe? Feh.
So I drafted a brief description of my current "job" and forgot about it, until the husband eventually noticed I'd described myself as Mommy-in-Chief:
Manage to feed, clothe and discipline two juvenile subordinates with time management and teething issues. Coordinate group and individual activities; responsible for all transportation; act as liaison with other family units and supervise search for missing shoe. Versatile in preparing chicken nuggets, finding an inch of wall space for class art "project" and communicating family values in a clear, precise manner in a loud voice. Provide timely assistance with boo-boos and intervene when necessary to prevent premature death of younger sibling. Lecture on importance of following rules; draft new rules, amendments or exceptions on moment's notice, subject to enforcement when Daddy gets home.
So he put in the following reference for me:
Anne Levy is a fantastic spouse to me and mother to our young boy and girl. Since I consider my wife very important to me, you are not allowed to steal her away from that role. On the other hand, you are free to hire her as a full-time or freelance writer or editor. She is remarkably quick, has a distinct voice and is quite witty. It’s important to note that Anne relies on writing skill rather than being snarky. If you need some creative, fun writing, contact Anne.
Isn't he sweet? Considering I was being snarky about the whole thing.
I got a kick out of this post. I linked to it. Hope you don't mind.

Hey,
I think I have the same job, but with only one little munchkin to manage.
I wish I'd written that :)

Emily: Sure, no prob! Thanks.
Ilene: Sometimes I do miss my old Mommy blog, where I posted stuff like this a lot. It wasn't always this funny though. I stopped it when I started to feel like I was whining a lot.

Sounds like your spouse is a keeper, Anne! I like his point about your writing voice. It's very loyal.
