Today we introduce Jackie Parker, our Young Adult Fiction organizer:
I don't remember playing with dolls as a child. What I do remember is hanging out in hot, musty school libraries as my librarian mother prepared for the school year. I remember helping by spreading out the new catalog cards across a great swath of carpeting and dancing across them while I alphabetized. I loved it. I was an odd child.
I received my Master’s in Library and Information Science in 2005 from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. I now work enthusiastically for a public library in Washington. I started a personal blog to keep in touch with people in Michigan, but it quickly turned in to a teen lit blog that led me to participate as a Poster Girl for Readergirlz and as a YA panelist for the 2006 Cybils. The Cybils were such a wonderful experience that when the opportunity came up again this year, I was quite eager to volunteer. I'm honored that they let me.
I love that dancing story, Jackie. Yay for book nerds and odd children!

Dancing and alphabetical order: Two of my favorite things. No wonder we get along!
