Staying with a family friend in Geneva — being the French-speaking bit of Switzerland — 4 years' back, we would get up to find that she had already been out and bought us breakfast provisions, among the more memorable of which being a gorgeous moist chèvre rolled in fresh, chopped chives …

Try this too: goat's cheese, basil, tomato and smoked-salmon toasted sandwiches or pizza.

Oh my. It's 10:30 at night and I suddenly need a sandwich. Unfortunately I'm going to have to run to the grocery first. Thanks a lot, Empress!

Sounds totally yummy, I will have to try goat cheese, I'm ashamed to say I never have. Sydney is a cheese fiend anyways, so I'm sure we'll both be easy converts.

Andrew: Yum. Bet that would also be good with a few capers added. Thanks.

Faith: As Andrew mentioned, its official name is "chevre" (I can't make the cool accent mark). In case you have trouble finding it.

Oh yeah, I forgot: goat cheese and caramelised-onion pizza!
